Waxing on your period: everything you need to know
At our waxing clinic, we understand that life doesn’t always go to plan.
Your menstrual cycle is a natural part of your life, and it shouldn’t get in the way of you looking and feeling your best.
A lot of clients wonder if it’s okay to get waxed during their period and the short answer is YES.
Let’s discuss the ins and outs of waxing while menstruating….
Can you get waxed on your period?
Absolutely! There’s no medical reason why you can’t get waxed during your period. our trained wax experts are experienced and professional, ensuring your always comfortable at all times. However, there’s a few things to consider to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Increased sensitivity
Your skin may be more sensitive during your period; hormonal changes can increase sensitivity to pain. So you might find waxing a bit more uncomfortable than normal, that being said everyone is individual and some people find the complete opposite and tolerate the discomfort better.
Communicate with your wax expert
If you do decide to go ahead with your waxing appointment during your period, it’s a good idea to let your therapist know. This isn’t something to be embarrassed about, it’s a natural part of life, and our team is here to support you. Informing your therapist will allow them to ensure your comfort throughout.
Wear a tampon or menstrual cup
For the sake of hygiene, we require you to wear a clean tampon or menstrual cup during your waxing session. This helps manage your flow and keeps the area clean and sanitary. If you only wear pads, I advise you to schedule your wax for when you’re not on your period.
We have a toilet available, with free sanitary products for you to change when you arrive or if you have one of those caught out moments. We also provide individually wrapped intimate wipes in every one of our treatment rooms.
Timing your appointment
We understand that sometime cycles can be irregular or our periods just don’t fit into our plans schedules are tight. Sometimes waxing just has to fit in when it fits in. Rest assured we have no issues waxing you on your period.
Aftercare is key
Regardless of the time of the month you get waxed aftercare is crucial. Keep the waxed area clean and avoid tight clothing that might irritate, apply a soothing recommended aftercare product which can reduce redness or discomfort. If you experience any unusual symptoms, don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Getting waxed on your period is entirely up to you, while there may be more sensitivity, with the right care it will just be as normal as any other waxing session. You’ll leave feeling confident and clean. As always any questions were always here to help.
